Well I'll try to keep it short but... there's a lot of history to this band. Located in the Southeastern Pennsylvania area we actually started out as a Country music band (I'm so ashamed) who played a little Rock and Roll. At that time (somewhere around 1980) the band consisted of Brothers Rick (bass), Ron (guitar) and Garry (guitar) and drummer George Miller, all from a previous band I'll leave unnamed. We all wanted to get out of that country music thing and decided we needed a new name, thus The Hallman Brothers Band was born.
After a year or so Rick had to leave for personal reasons , so Ron moved over to bass and we did that three piece thing for a while gradually adding more Rock and Roll and playing less Country. We felt it sounded a little hollow and called brother George, who was not into Country music at all but was into what we were planning to do gradually, and that was to get rid of the country all together, we just had to do it slowly to get the rooms we were playing used to it.
Then came the Martic Forge Hotel, just purchased by Glen who was looking to fix it up and start running country bands. Someone gave him our name and we said what the hell. We played some country because we could, and then some Rock and Roll because we could better. The crowd was responding to the Rock and Roll way better than that, cry in you beer shit, so it just became all Rock and Roll. They knew it the night Pam had to come up after an ACDC song and say "we don't want that shit in here" but the crowd rules. After a while we started noticing other Rock and Roll bands on the roster, so we were on our way. We dumped some money in a real PA system, about 4000 watts which is plenty (usually too much) for the rooms we're in.
Since that time George Miller left the band and was replaced by Randy Givler (excellent drummer). Randy was with us about 3 years and left on good terms to pursue other interests. After auditioning a heap of drummers (what a joke) we decided, since Ron is an outstanding drummer for the time being, he would sit in on drums just to keep things going. So we brought in Jim (I know I'll screw this up) Mastermatea, who formerly played with George and I in an original band called Excalibur, to sit in on bass until we figured out what the hell we were going to do.
Finally we found Tom Downing a local drummer how was looking to get out of his current band. Ron was glad to get back up front, the puzzle is complete.
After a while we just decided to take a break, a few places we played pretty regular either burned down, changed management or simply just became complete assholes and we just don't deal that well with asshole.
Just when it seemed the band was pretty much done someone asked us to play at a party and we figured it was a good chance to jam without any pressure. Randy's other project had dissolved and he was looking to jam a little too so we said what the hell for old time sake...
Well one thing led to another and we're booking dates again at a pretty relaxed level. We just want to get out the equipment and blow the dust off the speaker once in a while. This works well with the fans too... It tends to fill the rooms and usually leaves them wanting more...
So if your going to be in the Southeastern PA. area, and you like loud kick ass Rock and Roll...check our schedule and come check us out.
